Plus the end-user service levels by unique SQL transaction (SQL statement, stored procedure or package) are also measured and reported over time.

The statistical distribution of most OLTP application SQL typically follows an 80%-20% or 90%-10% distribution. Therefore a significant performance improvement can be realized if the performance of the 10% of the SQL that comprises 90% of the database activity or resource usage is improved.

The Top N Sql service level statistics may be aggregated on any meaningful time interval for the average end-user response time, average database server response time, average network times, etc. metrics may be reported on a 1 second to N second interval. e.g. in product environments usually an interval of 30 seconds to 5 minutes is used.

This time interval may be changed when the top N SQL analysis is performed.
